Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi met Power Minister Manohar Lal on Thursday to address pressing challenges in India’s clean energy sector.

Key discussion points included renewable purchase obligation (RPO) mandates, inter-state transmission system (ISTS) bottlenecks, pending power purchase agreements (PPAs), connectivity hurdles, and wind energy concerns, Joshi shared via X. Despite achieving significant milestones, the sector continues to face delays in transmission infrastructure and lacks sufficient PPAs for several projects, impacting deployment timelines. As both the RPO and ISTS fall under the power ministry’s jurisdiction, inter-ministerial coordination is seen as crucial. Joshi reiterated his optimism about achieving India’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, emphasizing the need for policy alignment and infrastructure acceleration. The meeting signals the government’s intent to resolve structural challenges and ensure smoother execution of renewable energy goals, aligning with India’s broader decarbonization and energy security ambitions.
