The Delhi government has approved a three-month extension of its Electric Vehicle (EV) policy and continued power subsidies for key groups.
In a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, subsidies were extended for domestic consumers, farmers, lawyers with chambers, and 1984 riot victims. Transport Minister Pankaj Singh clarified there is no ban or proposal to ban autos or any vehicle category, addressing public concerns. He added that the revised EV policy will include more resident-focused initiatives. Home Minister Ashish Sood dismissed misinformation about the end of electricity subsidies, confirming the Cabinet’s approval of a special proposal to maintain support for affected groups. The updated EV policy is expected within three to four months.
