The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has extended the bid submission deadline for its green ammonia tender to June 30, 2025.
Initially issued on June 7, 2024, the tender is a key part of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The objective is to enable the annual production and supply of 724,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia to 13 designated fertilizer plants across India. SECI, a Navratna CPSU, will act as the implementing agency, aggregating demand and securing long-term offtake agreements with selected producers. These 10-year agreements aim to offer commercial certainty, attract investment, and foster market development for green hydrogen derivatives like ammonia. This extension is expected to encourage broader participation from industry players and support India’s ambitious transition toward a green hydrogen economy, enhancing energy security and reducing reliance on fossil fuel-based fertilizer production.
