160-km coastal corridor to boost ports, tourism and logistics under PM GatiShakti.

Cabinet Approves ₹8,301 Crore Rameshwar–Paradip Coastal Highway in Odisha.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the construction of a new Rameshwar–Paradip coastal highway in Odisha at an estimated cost of ₹8,301 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). Spanning 160.18 km, the project will be developed in two packages to strengthen coastal connectivity and economic integration. Package I involves a 79.40-km, four-lane access-controlled highway from Rameshwar to Konark at a cost of ₹5,304.80 crore, while Package II covers an 80.78-km two-lane highway with paved shoulders from Konark to Paradip, costing ₹2,995.99 crore. The corridor will pass through Khurda, Puri, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts, connecting key ports, airports, railheads and industrial clusters. The highway is expected to cut travel time by about 2.5 hours, reduce fuel consumption and emissions, improve freight movement, and generate over 120 lakh man-days of employment, aligning with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.
