Delhi Fast-Tracks ₹7,000-Crore Elevated Ring Road Project to Ease Traffic Congestion.

Proposed 55-km elevated corridor will add two Yamuna bridges and improve connectivity across East, Southeast and Central Delhi.

The Delhi government is accelerating its ₹7,000-crore elevated Ring Road project to address rising traffic congestion around Sarai Kale Khan following the opening of Barapullah Phase 3. The proposed 55-km corridor aims to improve connectivity between East Delhi and other parts of the capital. Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Singh Verma said the detailed project report (DPR) for the first package has received approval from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The project also proposes two new bridges over the Yamuna to improve traffic movement. One bridge is planned near the existing Signature Bridge, while another elevated connection is proposed from Metcalfe House to the Delhi–Noida–Direct (DND) Flyway near Ashram. Three stretches have been identified for priority development: Azadpur Flyover to Hanuman Temple at ISBT (9.5 km), Chandgi Ram Akhara to Majnu Ka Tilla (2.5 km), and Hanuman Temple to DND Flyover (11.5 km). Once completed, the corridor is expected to strengthen road connectivity, reduce bottlenecks and improve traffic management across Delhi’s busy transport network.
