Exide Industries Invests ₹200 Crore in Battery Subsidiary EESL.

Fresh funding strengthens Exide’s lithium-ion battery manufacturing plans and supports India’s growing EV ecosystem.

Exide Industries has invested nearly ₹200 crore in its wholly owned subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), to support its greenfield lithium-ion battery manufacturing project in Bengaluru and meet other funding requirements. EESL allotted 5.71 crore equity shares to Exide Industries on a rights basis at ₹35 per share, including a ₹25 premium, taking the investment to ₹199.99 crore. The allotment was completed on August 18, 2026, while Exide’s ownership in EESL remains at 100%. EESL manufactures advanced-chemistry lithium-ion battery cells, modules and packs for electric vehicles and stationary applications, covering cylindrical, pouch and prismatic formats. As of March 31, 2026, EESL reported a net worth of ₹3,991.06 crore and turnover of ₹157.56 crore, while its loss after tax stood at ₹248.16 crore. With the latest investment, Exide Industries’ cumulative investment in EESL’s equity, including share premium and earlier investments, has reached ₹5,102.23 crore.
