Shipping Ministry Unveils Reform-Driven Roadmap to Fast-Track Maritime Transformation.
India’s maritime sector is set for a major transformation as the shipping ministry works on a comprehensive, reform-driven roadmap to boost efficiency, transparency, and ease of doing business. Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials to assess progress and chart future priorities. According to an official statement, discussions focused on strengthening governance, enhancing digital integration, improving grievance redressal, and ensuring time-bound implementation of key maritime initiatives. The minister directed officials to put in place a structured mechanism for the swift disposal of grievances, court cases, and pending legal and administrative matters. A dedicated monitoring and coordination committee will be constituted to ensure accountability and timely resolution. Emphasising citizen-centric governance, Sonowal stressed that grievance redressal should lead to real, ground-level solutions. The ministry also plans to develop an integrated digital platform and mobile application under the Directorate General of Shipping, leveraging artificial intelligence and data-driven systems to improve operational efficiency and service delivery across the maritime ecosystem.
