PM Modi to Flag Off Vande Bharat from Katra to Kashmir on April 19

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first Vande Bharat Express from Katra to Baramulla on April 19, fulfilling the long-awaited dream of direct rail connectivity to Kashmir. The train will cross the Pir Panjal range, offering all-weather connectivity, boosting tourism, horticulture, and agriculture. The ₹41,000 crore project includes advanced safety features, anti-freezing systems, and shatterproof windows. PM Modi will also visit the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River before addressing a public rally at Katra. Once the expansion at Jammu Railway Station is complete, the train will operate from Jammu by July-August, further enhancing regional transport and reducing costs.
