Simari, a remote border village in Jammu and Kashmir's Karnah Valley, has been fully electrified through a solar power project by the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps and Pune-based Aseem Foundation under Operation Sadbhavana.

Once plagued by darkness and unreliable power, the village now benefits from four solar clusters with high-efficiency panels, inverters, and battery banks, ensuring 24/7 electricity. Home to 53 households and 347 residents, Simari now enjoys LED lighting, safe power access, and LPG connections, reducing firewood dependence and improving health. The project, dedicated to Shaurya Chakra awardee Colonel Santosh Mahadik, will be formally inaugurated on April 14. Simari also holds strategic importance as India's polling booth number 1, lying along the Line of Control.
