Adani Ports and JSW Group are set to sign concession agreements with the Odisha government to develop major port infrastructure, with a combined investment of ₹28,000 crore.
Adani Ports will expand Gopalpur Port into a mega port with a ₹15,000 crore investment after acquiring a majority stake in Gopalpur Ports Ltd. The deep-water port in Ganjam district currently handles 20 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo annually and will support mineral-based industries in the region. Meanwhile, JSW Utkal Steel will invest ₹13,000 crore to construct a captive jetty at Jatadhar Muhan in Jagatsinghpur district to serve its integrated steel plant. The jetty is expected to handle 55 million tonnes of cargo annually and pay royalties of ₹25–35 per tonne. Together, these projects will generate over 8,500 jobs, enhance Odisha’s logistics capabilities, and align with the state's vision to become an eastern coastal industrial hub under the Blue Economy and Sagarmala initiatives.
