Sir Dorabji Tata Trust Initiates Search for Next Tata Sons Chairman

Selection Committee to recommend a new chairman for Tata Sons as N. Chandrasekaran prepares to step down in 2027.

The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) has initiated the process of forming a five-member Selection Committee to identify the next Chairman of Tata Sons, following N. Chandrasekaran's decision not to seek reappointment after his current term ends on February 20, 2027. According to the Trust, Chandrasekaran informed its nominee directors of his decision via email on August 12, prompting the trustees to pass a resolution in line with Article 118 of Tata Sons' Articles of Association. The Trust expressed its appreciation for Chandrasekaran's decade-long leadership, crediting him with guiding the Tata Group through a period of significant transformation, growth, and strategic expansion. SDTT also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Tata Sons in ensuring a smooth, timely, and orderly leadership transition. Chandrasekaran assumed the role of Chairman in February 2017 following Cyrus Mistry's exit and a unanimous recommendation from a selection committee.
