Bengaluru Plans Five Elevated Road Corridors to Decongest City Traffic.

Bengaluru may soon get significant traffic relief as plans move ahead for five elevated road corridors spanning nearly 80 km across major traffic routes. Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd (B-SMILE) has invited bids for consultancy services to fast-track the execution of these projects. The agency has sought project management consultants, detailed project report (DPR) consultants and proof-checking agencies, with bids to be evaluated under a two-cover system through the Karnataka Public Procurement Portal. One of the key proposals is a 17.9-km, six-lane elevated corridor from Nagavara Junction to Bagalur Main Road, aimed at diverting through-traffic from busy surface roads. Another major project includes a 27.1-km elevated road from Mother Teresa Circle near Ulsoor Lake to Bagalur village along the New Airport Road, addressing congestion on Hennur Main Road and surrounding areas. To ease pressure in east and south Bengaluru, a 10.8-km corridor from Old Madras Road to the Electronics City flyover has been proposed, along with two additional corridors in west and south Bengaluru. Together, these projects aim to improve traffic flow and commuter efficiency across the city.
