BW LPG India Expands Fleet with $150 Million VLGC Purchase

BW LPG India has acquired two modern Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs), BW Pampero and BW Chinook, from its parent company BW LPG Ltd for $150 million. This purchase expands its fleet to nine vessels, strengthening its position as the largest owner of Indian-flagged VLGCs, handling 20% of India’s LPG imports.

The deal supports India’s growing LPG demand, which is rising by 4-6% annually. The vessels, built in 2015, will be delivered in Q3 2025. BW LPG India aims to leverage its expanding fleet to reduce import costs and improve efficiency. The company seeks continued government subsidy support and policy reforms to remain competitive.
