Cross Island Marina to redefine Mumbai’s waterfront and yachting future.
Mumbai Port Authority to Build ₹1,470-Crore World-Class Marina at Cross Island
The Mumbai Port Authority will develop a modern yacht marina at Cross Island with an investment of ₹1,470 crore, funded through its internal resources on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis. Chairman Angamuthu said the project will encompass a road link to the shore, breakwaters, dredging, berthing pontoons, parking, and other offshore assets. A private operator will manage the marina for 45 years and invest an additional ₹417.37 crore to establish onshore facilities such as a repair yard, clubhouse, hotel, restaurants, and commercial spaces. With over 200 leisure boats currently moored near the Gateway of India and limited refuelling or maintenance facilities, Mumbai has long needed a dedicated marina. The project is set to transform the city’s waterfront, enhance tourism, support luxury yachting, and strengthen maritime infrastructure. Previous PPP-model attempts failed due to a lack of bidders, leading to this revised EPC approach.
