Damen Partners with Yeoman Marine to Build Tugboats for Indian Market.

Dutch shipbuilder Damen has teamed up with Yeoman Marine Services to construct tugboats in India, challenging Canada-based Robert Allan Ltd, whose designs dominate the local market. Under the MoU, Damen will provide advanced design, engineering, and supply chain expertise, while Yeoman will build the tugboats at its Ratnagiri shipyard using modular techniques. This collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality tugboats, aligning with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The partnership supports the Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP), which seeks to replace conventional fuel-based tugs with eco-friendly, hybrid-powered vessels in major ports by 2040, with an initial investment of ₹1,000 crore.
