Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur on Saturday, marking his first trip to the state in over two years since ethnic violence erupted between the Kuki and Meitei communities in May 2023. The conflict claimed more than 260 lives and displaced thousands. During his visit, the PM will interact with internally displaced families in Churachandpur and Imphal, highlighting the Centre’s focus on reconciliation and rehabilitation. He will also unveil development projects worth ₹28,500 crore, aimed at strengthening infrastructure, governance, and technology in the state. At Churachandpur, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the ₹13,647 crore drainage and asset management project and the ₹550 crore Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project. In Imphal, he will inaugurate the new Manipur Police headquarters worth ₹2,101 crore and a ₹1,538 crore civil secretariat. Security has been intensified across both venues, reflecting the significance of the high-profile visit for Manipur’s future.
