Billionaire Gautam Adani plans to venture into passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion operations to meet the growing demand for dedicated domestic freighter aircraft, currently dominated by foreign operators. Adani Defence and Aerospace will oversee the new business, leveraging its recent acquisition of Air Works, India’s largest private MRO company. With India’s air cargo market projected to grow at a CAGR of 6-8% over the next decade, Adani aims to provide P2F services for both narrow and wide-body freighters. The group may collaborate with foreign OEMs, mirroring Boeing’s partnership with GMR Aero Technic in Hyderabad.
