Navi Mumbai International Airport to Take Off on December 25.
After decades of planning and execution, the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will begin commercial operations on December 25, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure. On the opening day, the airport will handle 30 air traffic movements, including arrivals and departures. IndiGo’s flight 6E 460 from Bengaluru will be the first aircraft to land at 8 am, while flight 6E 882 to Hyderabad at 8.40 am will be the first departure. Other airlines operating on day one include Akasa Air, Air India Express and Star Air. Developed by the Adani Group through Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd, NMIA is expected to significantly ease congestion at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and establish a multi-airport system for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. CIDCO said the airport will act as a catalyst for economic growth across Navi Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Panvel, Raigad and the Konkan region, enhancing connectivity and development.
