Sale aligns fleet strategy as company plans tanker divestment and dry bulk acquisition.
GE Shipping to Divest Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier Jag Aarati.
The Great Eastern Shipping Company (GE Shipping) has agreed to sell its 2011-built Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier Jag Aarati to an unaffiliated third party, continuing its ongoing fleet reshaping exercise. The vessel, with a carrying capacity of about 80,324 deadweight tonnes, is scheduled to be delivered to the buyer in the fourth quarter of FY26. Following this transaction, GE Shipping’s owned fleet will comprise 40 vessels with an aggregate capacity of 3.32 million deadweight tonnes. This includes 26 tankers and 14 dry bulk carriers. The tanker segment consists of six crude tankers, 16 product tankers and four LPG carriers, while the dry bulk fleet includes two Capesize, 10 Kamsarmax and two Supramax vessels. Separately, the company has also contracted to sell one Suezmax crude tanker, with delivery expected in the third quarter of FY26. At the same time, it has agreed to acquire a second-hand Ultramax dry bulk carrier, scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of FY26, underlining its selective approach to fleet renewal.
