Smart port technology to enhance vessel safety, efficiency, and turnaround at Gateway Terminals India.
Cavotec Wins Contract to Deploy Automated Mooring System at JNPA.
Cavotec has secured a contract to install its automated mooring system at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPA), marking a significant step toward modernising India's port infrastructure. The system will be introduced on a pilot basis at Gateway Terminals India Pvt. Ltd. (GTI), a leading container terminal where 74% ownership is held by APM Terminals Management BV, the port operating arm of Denmark's global logistics company AP Moller-Maersk. The automated mooring solution replaces conventional ropes with vacuum-based technology, enabling faster, safer, and more efficient vessel berthing and departure. The project is expected to reduce vessel turnaround time, improve operational efficiency, enhance worker safety, and support smoother port operations. If successful, the pilot could pave the way for wider adoption of automated mooring technology across Indian ports, strengthening JNPA's position as one of the country's most advanced and efficient maritime gateways.
