State grants one-month extension to ensure eligible passengers continue receiving fare benefits without disruption..
Maharashtra Extends Mandatory NCMC Smart Card Deadline for MSRTC Concessions to September 1.
The Maharashtra government has extended the deadline for the mandatory use of the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for passengers availing fare concessions on Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation buses from August 1 to September 1. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the extension after reports that many eligible beneficiaries had completed registration but were yet to receive their physical NCMC smart cards. The move ensures that senior citizens and women can continue to enjoy travel concessions without interruption while the card distribution process is completed. The NCMC system is being introduced to provide a more transparent, technology-driven, and efficient mechanism for delivering travel benefits. Under existing welfare schemes, Amrut senior citizens are entitled to free travel on MSRTC buses, while senior citizens and women receive a 50% concession on fares. The extension is expected to ease the transition to the new digital ticketing and concession system.
