Strategic alliance strengthens India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat push in cutting-edge drone warfare.
L&T and US Defence Giant GA-ASI Join Forces to Build Advanced Combat Drones in India.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and US-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) have formed a strategic partnership to manufacture advanced Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) combat drones in India. Under the agreement, L&T will serve as the prime bidder for the Ministry of Defence’s upcoming 87-drone programme, while GA-ASI will provide critical technology support. The collaboration aims to produce GA-ASI’s battle-proven MQ-series drones locally, emphasising full-scale indigenous manufacturing and technology transfer under the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. L&T Chairman S.N. Subrahmanyan said the alliance will significantly enhance India’s aerospace and defence capabilities, while GA-ASI CEO Vivek Lall highlighted the shared vision of strengthening India’s self-reliant defence ecosystem. The partnership marks a milestone in Indo-US defence cooperation, paving the way for advanced unmanned aerial systems and bolstering India’s strategic edge in modern warfare.
