“Delayed progress, lost access—India pushes for faster, accountable green energy growth.”
CERC Revokes Inox Green’s Grid Access for 300 MW Wind Project Over Long Delays
Inox Green Energy Services has lost its grid connectivity for a 300 MW wind project in Gujarat after the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) upheld the revocation due to prolonged delays and failure to meet key milestones. The Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd (CTUIL) disconnected the project’s grid access at the Bhuj-II pooling station on March 10, citing the company’s inability to achieve financial closure or make meaningful progress despite multiple extensions over six years. CTUIL also encashed bank guarantees worth ₹35 million. The setback highlights persistent challenges in India’s clean energy sector, including land acquisition hurdles and transmission system constraints. India has reportedly cancelled grid access for nearly 17 GW of delayed renewable projects to prioritise operational or near-complete installations. As the country aims to double its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW, regulators emphasise the need to free up scarce transmission resources for timely projects.
