Fair winds ahead — empowering farmers, ending land hoarding.

Rajasthan Withdraws Land Reservation Policy to Protect Farmers and Boost Fair Play in Wind Sector.

The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL) has scrapped its land reservation policy for wind power projects to protect farmers’ rights and ensure fair competition. Previously, developers could “freeze” land coordinates for six months without farmers’ consent, effectively blocking high-potential sites and limiting market value negotiations. The policy led to speculative hoarding and stalled investments, prompting the state to intervene. Following a review in September 2025, RRECL cancelled all inactive or uninvested sites and amended its framework to prevent similar misuse. Now, no rights will be created in favour of developers, reaffirming that land transactions are private agreements between companies and landowners. The move aligns with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s directive urging transparency, fair compensation, and protection against distress land sales. This marks a major step toward ethical renewable energy expansion in Rajasthan.
