Rajasthan Installs 1,190 MW Decentralised Solar Under PM-KUSUM in One Year

Rajasthan has made significant strides in decentralised solar energy, installing 592 solar plants with 1,190 MW capacity in the last year under the PM-KUSUM scheme. This brings the state’s total to 684 plants (1,305 MW)—the highest in India under Component-A of the scheme. Unlike large solar parks, these grid-connected plants are farmer-led or farmer-developer partnerships set up on barren land within 5 km of substations. Power is supplied at just ₹2.09–₹3/unit—cheaper than thermal electricity—benefiting both farmers and discoms. Jodhpur discom leads with 997.5 MW, followed by Jaipur and Ajmer. Implementation has improved with SOPs, dedicated officers, and better land and loan facilitation. With discom losses over ₹90,000 crore, this model offers a clean energy and rural income solution. The state aims to provide daytime agri-electricity to all farmers by 2027.
