Government rules out blanket relief but allows case-by-case extensions beyond June 1.
Some Renewable Energy Projects May Get Time to Meet Local Sourcing Norms.
The government may allow limited, project-specific extensions for certain renewable energy projects to comply with mandatory local sourcing norms, even as it has firmly ruled out any blanket extension of the June 1 deadline. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said that projects affected by factors beyond developers’ control could be considered for relief after detailed scrutiny. According to the ministry, cases where solar modules have already been installed but commissioning is pending, or where developers have taken effective and verifiable implementation steps, may be examined individually for possible extensions. However, the government made it clear that the applicability of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar PV cells, also known as ALMM List-II, will not be extended across the board beyond June 1. The clarification follows reports indicating that while broad relaxation is off the table, authorities may provide targeted relief to net-metering, open access and other renewable energy projects unable to meet the deadline due to genuine delays. The move seeks to balance domestic manufacturing objectives with practical project execution challenges.
