UNSW Partners with KREDL to Launch Clean Energy Startup Incubator in Karnataka.
The University of New South Wales has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd to deepen cooperation in clean and renewable energy, with a strong focus on startups and innovation. Formalised on April 2 in Karnataka, the partnership will establish a renewable energy startup incubator in the state, enabling cross-border collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs and industry in India and Australia. The initiative will provide startups access to research infrastructure, innovation ecosystems and markets in both countries, supported through capacity-building programmes under UNSW Founders. The collaboration is facilitated by the Australian India Business Council and Investment NSW, with key partners including NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Science. Karnataka Energy Minister K J George said the partnership will strengthen the state’s innovation ecosystem and position Karnataka as a global hub for clean energy innovation, ahead of UNSW’s Bengaluru campus launch in 2026.
