Indian Solar Firm Enters Africa's Utility-Scale Renewable Energy Market with 54 MW Project.
Navitas Planet Secures $20 Million Solar EPC Project in Zambia.
Surat-based Navitas Solar has achieved a major international milestone as its EPC arm, Navitas Planet, secured a $20 million contract to develop a 54 MW utility-scale solar power project in Zambia. Located in Serenje Province, the project marks the company's first utility-scale EPC venture in Africa and will be executed on a complete engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPC) basis. The plant will use Navitas' advanced bifacial TOPCon solar modules and is expected to be commissioned within seven to eight months. The project supports Zambia's efforts to diversify its power generation beyond hydropower under its Integrated Resource Plan and Presidential 1,000 MW Solar Initiative. Once operational, the solar facility is expected to reduce approximately 42,570 tonnes of carbon emissions annually while creating local employment opportunities. The contract also strengthens Navitas Solar's global expansion strategy and highlights the growing international demand for Indian renewable energy expertise.
