Jindal Stainless Integrates ESG Risk Intelligence into Supplier Management to Strengthen Supply Chain Resilience
National, September 9, 2026: Jindal Stainless, India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, has announced the successful deployment of SAP Ariba Supplier Risk with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risk capabilities, strengthening its approach to supplier governance, responsible sourcing and supply chain resilience.
The deployment marks a significant milestone in the company’s digital transformation and sustainability journey, establishing a technology-enabled framework to assess, monitor and manage supplier risks integrated within its Business ERP platform.
Moving from Periodic Assessments to Continuous Monitoring
The initiative builds on Jindal Stainless’ existing supplier risk assessment practices, transitioning from periodic and largely manual assessments to a digital-first model with continuous monitoring and enhanced visibility of risk indicators.
With ESG indicators embedded within supplier profiles, procurement teams can identify potential risk signals earlier, support more informed sourcing decisions and maintain structured, audit-ready information for governance and compliance.
The deployment also strengthens the integration of supplier risk management with the company’s broader digital transformation agenda.
Commenting on the development, Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, said:
“Digital transformation and sustainability have become critical pillars in building resilient and responsible businesses. At Jindal Stainless, we are using technology not only to strengthen operational efficiency, but also to embed greater transparency, accountability and environmental focus across our value chain.
This approach brings together our digital and sustainability priorities to create stronger systems of governance and enable more informed, responsible business decisions.”
ESG Risk Intelligence Across Supplier Lifecycle
The implementation brings together several ESG-focused capabilities, including:
- Supplier risk classification
- Questionnaire-based ESG evaluation
- ESG risk scoring
- Continuous monitoring of risk signals
- Structured visibility for procurement stakeholders
- Supplier documentation and ongoing updates
- Corrective-action support
These capabilities are integrated across key stages of the supplier lifecycle, including onboarding, sourcing and award-related decision-making.
The approach enables procurement stakeholders to gain structured visibility into supplier-related ESG risks while supporting more informed and responsible sourcing decisions.
SAP Highlights Role of Technology in Supply Chain Resilience
Manish Prasad, President and Managing Director, SAP Indian Subcontinent, said:
“The future competitiveness of India’s industrial sector will increasingly depend on the resilience, transparency, and sustainability of its supply chains.
Organizations that can effectively embed ESG considerations into operational decisions will be better positioned to navigate evolving stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements.
Jindal Stainless’ deployment of SAP Ariba Supplier Risk demonstrates how digital technologies can help enterprises transform supplier risk management from a periodic exercise into a continuous, intelligence-led process that drives long-term business value.”
Supporting Suppliers and MSMEs in ESG Readiness
The platform also provides a centralised interface for suppliers to share risk-related information, submit documents and provide ongoing updates.
As part of its responsible sourcing journey, Jindal Stainless plans to conduct supplier awareness and training workshops while supporting suppliers in identifying areas for improvement and developing corrective action plans based on their ESG risk profiles.
This initiative is expected to help suppliers, including Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), better understand their ESG performance and strengthen their readiness to meet evolving sustainability expectations.
