Khavda mega project drives world’s largest greenfield renewable expansion.
Adani Green Adds Record 5 GW Capacity in FY26, Portfolio Rises to 19.3 GW.
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) added over 5 GW (5,051 MW) of renewable energy capacity in FY26, taking its total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW. The company said this marks the highest greenfield annual renewable capacity addition globally by any firm outside China. The new capacity includes 3,409 MW of solar, 686 MW of wind, and 956 MW of wind-solar hybrid projects, expected to offset nearly 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Most of the capacity was commissioned at AGEL’s Khavda renewable energy project in Gujarat, being developed as the world’s largest renewable energy plant. Spread over 538 sq km, the project is planned to scale up to 30 GW by 2029, with 9.41 GW already installed. Executive Director Sagar Adani said the milestone places India firmly on the global clean energy map. AGEL has also commissioned 1,376 MWh of battery energy storage at Khavda, enhancing grid stability, while continuing to strengthen its ESG leadership with top global sustainability rankings.
