Libra Solar approval marks first federal land solar advancement since tighter permit rules.

Trump Administration Clears Amendments to Nevada Solar Project After Months of Delay.

The Trump administration has approved amendments to a Nevada-based solar energy project, marking the first advancement of a utility-scale solar facility on federal land in several months. According to permitting documents, changes were cleared for the Libra Solar project, developed by SB Energy, a SoftBank-backed company. The approval follows a directive issued earlier this year by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum mandating that all wind and solar projects on federal land require his personal sign-off. That order had effectively slowed approvals across the renewable energy sector. The latest clearance allows modifications to key project components, including a transmission line, stormwater management systems and an access road, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) confirmed. While the amendments do not amount to a full new project approval, they signal limited movement after a prolonged pause in federal permitting. BLM officials declined further comment, and SB Energy has not yet responded publicly. The decision is being closely watched by the renewable industry as an indicator of how restrictive federal oversight may ease—or continue—under the current administration.
