₹18,175 crore investment to boost clean-energy manufacturing and job creation.

Waaree to Set Up India’s Largest 16 GWh Battery Gigafactory in Andhra Pradesh.

Waaree Energy Storage Solutions Pvt Ltd (WESSPL), a subsidiary of Waaree Energies, will establish India’s largest integrated battery gigafactory in Andhra Pradesh, reinforcing the country’s push for clean-energy self-reliance. The company plans to invest ₹18,175 crore to set up a 16 GWh lithium-ion manufacturing facility at Rambilli in Anakapalli district, covering cell manufacturing, battery packs and large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The project has received in-principle approval from the Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and is expected to generate around 3,000 direct jobs. State minister Nara Lokesh said the gigafactory aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, aimed at backward integration across renewables. Industry experts view the project as a critical step in reducing import dependence and strengthening India’s energy security amid rising demand for grid-scale storage and electric mobility.
