DDA Approves Redevelopment of 50-Year-Old Two-Storey Homes in Delhi.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has approved a new policy allowing the redevelopment and reconstruction of its old two-storey residential units built under earlier housing schemes. Many of these individual plots in areas such as Naraina Vihar, Green Park and Lajpat Nagar are over 50 years old and structurally deficient. The policy grants redevelopment rights similar to those for vacant residential plots, subject to plot size, applicable FAR, ground coverage, height, fire safety and structural norms. DDA has also eased building-plan approvals by removing the need for multiple departmental NOCs from agencies including DPCC, DJB and the Forest Department. Additionally, DDA approved a 19.6-hectare land-use change in Narela for a metro depot under the Rithala-Kundli Corridor. The project is expected to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, attract investment and create new employment opportunities.
