Mumbai Court Denies Bail to Former Lodha Developers Director in ₹181 Cr Land Scam.

A Mumbai sessions court has denied bail to Rajendra Lodha, former director of Lodha Developers, in connection with an alleged ₹181 crore corporate land fraud. Additional Sessions Judge P.A. Sable observed that economic offences of this magnitude erode public confidence in commercial and financial institutions. The court noted that prima facie evidence indicates a pivotal role played by Rajendra Lodha in a decade-long conspiracy involving unauthorised sale of company-owned land at undervalued prices. The prosecution alleged that Lodha abused his fiduciary authority and, along with co-accused including his son, created fabricated documents to legitimise illegal transactions, causing massive losses to the complainant company. While the defence cited health issues and claimed actions were board-approved, the court found the allegations serious and the risk of witness tampering real. It held that jail authorities can provide adequate medical care while investigations, including a pending auditor’s report, continue.
