Distributed renewables, digital platforms to shape next growth phase.
India Has Strong Potential in Renewable Manufacturing and Clean Energy Exports: MNRE Secretary.
India has significant potential in renewable energy manufacturing, project development and exports as it rapidly expands its clean energy capacity, said Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Speaking at the annual meet of the Sustainable Projects Developers Association in New Delhi, Sarangi said clean and reliable energy will be critical for India’s growth and energy security as the country targets developed-nation status by 2047. He noted that the sector is evolving beyond utility-scale projects toward distributed renewable energy, green open access and prosumer models enabled by digital platforms such as the India Energy Stack. Rooftop solar, storage and peer-to-peer power trading are expected to reshape demand patterns, while hybrid and storage-linked projects are gaining traction, including in tenders by the Solar Energy Corporation of India. SPDA Chairman Vineet Mittal said India must now deepen localisation and strengthen supply chains to achieve the 500 GW non-fossil capacity target, supported by storage-backed renewable projects and timely power purchase agreements.
