Fastest Solar Irrigation Drive—Empowering Farmers, Powering the Future.

Maharashtra Sets Guinness World Record with Massive Solar Pump Rollout.

Maharashtra has achieved a historic milestone by installing 45,911 solar agricultural pumps in just 30 days, earning recognition from Guinness World Records. This large-scale deployment—completed under PM-KUSUM and the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana—marks one of the world’s fastest renewable irrigation expansions, placing Maharashtra right behind China in scale and efficiency. At a special event in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted how the initiative ensures reliable irrigation, boosts farmer incomes, and reduces dependence on conventional power. With 7.5 lakh pumps already installed, the CM has set a new target of 10 lakh solar pumps by next year. The rollout succeeded due to strong planning—pre-positioned inventory, digital monitoring, multiple installation teams, and a grievance system ensuring quick resolution. Pump capacity was allotted based on farm size, ensuring maximum benefit to drought-prone regions and small farmers.
