Maison New Farm is an iconic multi-residential development located in the vibrant riverside suburb of New Farm, Brisbane, Australia. Conceived as a living, breathing piece of architecture, Maison redefines contemporary apartment living by combining sculptural design, environmental responsibility, and community contribution. Designed collaboratively by Graya and Joe Adsett Architects, the project stands as a benchmark for high-end, design-led residential architecture in Australia.

The concept of Maison was born from a desire to introduce something entirely new to the suburb—an architectural form that would soften the existing brutal urban context while elevating the streetscape. Key design elements include soft organic curves, plank-form concrete finishes, and an intensive focus on landscaping. Rather than treating greenery as an afterthought, Maison integrates landscaping as a core architectural element, ensuring the building contributes positively to both residents and the wider community.

One of the most distinctive features of the project is its bespoke curved concrete planter boxes, a first-of-its-kind design element for the area. These planters visually soften the building’s mass while creating a dynamic façade that evolves with plant growth. Detailed plank-form textures give the concrete a warm, wood-like appearance, further enhancing the tactile quality of the exterior. Significant effort was invested in the design and execution of the landscaping, making it one of the project’s strongest visual and functional assets.

To ensure the long-term viability of its lush green façade, the project incorporates drought-tolerant plant species and a grey-water reticulation system, significantly reducing water consumption. Internally, Maison offers residents unrivaled luxury living. Each apartment—referred to as a luxury sky home—is carefully curated with high-end fittings, premium finishes, and bespoke detailing.
