New BESS projects strengthen grid stability and open merchant revenue opportunities.

ACME Solar Commissioned 155 MW Battery Storage in Rajasthan

ACME Solar Holdings has commissioned an additional 155 MW/470.25 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in Rajasthan, raising its total operational storage to 297.67 MW/951.74 MWh. The projects form part of the company’s wider plan to develop 835 MW/3,114.64 MWh of BESS capacity across its special purpose vehicles. According to the company, the newly commissioned systems are connected to the Inter-State Transmission System and will operate on a merchant basis, enabling ACME Solar to generate extra revenue by capitalising on price differences between peak and off-peak periods. The BESS facilities will store electricity during low-demand hours and release it during peak consumption, enhancing grid balancing and reliability. This commissioning aligns with India’s increasing focus on energy storage to support renewable energy integration, address intermittency in solar and wind power, and enable more efficient utilisation of clean energy resources across the national grid.
