India, New Zealand Unveil Roadmap 2030 to Strengthen Trade, Energy & Defence Partnership.
India and New Zealand have launched the India–New Zealand Strategic Partnership and unveiled the Roadmap to 2030, a comprehensive framework to deepen cooperation in trade, defence, clean energy, technology, education, and regional security. Announced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first official visit to New Zealand, the roadmap outlines six key pillars of collaboration. Both countries aim to double bilateral trade in goods and services to NZ$7 billion (around ₹35,000 crore) by 2030 while advancing negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement and promoting direct air connectivity. In defence, the partners will expand military exchanges, conduct bilateral naval exercises, strengthen maritime security, cybersecurity, and counter-terrorism cooperation. The roadmap also focuses on joint initiatives in digital innovation, climate technologies, agriculture, and renewable energy through the International Solar Alliance and Global Biofuels Alliance. Both nations also reaffirmed their commitment to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region.
