AMPIN Energy to Invest over ₹1,000 Crore in Bengal for Solar Cell and Battery Manufacturing

AMPIN Energy Transition is planning to invest more than ₹1,000 crore in West Bengal to develop advanced solar cell manufacturing, battery energy storage systems, and new solar power plants. Supported by global institutional investors and equipped with $700 million (₹6,200 crore) in capital, the company is exploring 15–20 acres in industrial parks to establish a 1–2 GW solar cell facility, requiring an investment of ₹700 crore, along with an additional ₹300 crore for a solar power plant. The project is anticipated to create up to 1,500 direct and indirect jobs. AMPIN, which already operates across 22 states with a 5 GWp portfolio, is also expanding in Odisha with a 15 GW manufacturing hub and a 250 MWp solar plant. The company has urged the Bengal government to extend incentives and aims to supply clean energy to upcoming data centres, thereby strengthening the region’s green infrastructure.
