5 Maharashtra Farmers Allegedly Duped of ₹1 Crore in Solar Project Scam.

Promises of solar income and subsidies allegedly turned into a ₹1 crore fraud.

Five farmers from Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district were allegedly cheated of around ₹1 crore by two men who promised to install solar power plants on their farmland and provide lucrative returns and government subsidies. According to police, the alleged fraud began nearly two years ago after the farmers were introduced to a company claiming to operate green solar energy projects. The suspects allegedly promised earnings of ₹50,000 per acre along with eligibility for a government subsidy of up to ₹30 lakh. Trusting these claims, the farmers collectively paid approximately ₹1 crore over two years. However, no solar equipment was installed. When the farmers later attempted to contact the company, their calls went unanswered. Its office near Dindori Naka in Nashik was also found locked and abandoned. Panchavati police have registered a cheating case under relevant BNS provisions and launched a search for the suspects. Officials suspect additional victims may exist and have urged anyone affected to approach the police.
