“Our Behavioural Action Can Save Water”: Navin Kumar, Managing Director of Navin’s, at The Hindu Sustainability Summit 2025
Chennai, November 7, 2025 – At The Hindu Sustainability Summit 2025, Mr. Navin Kumar, Managing Director of Navin’s, one of Chennai’s most trusted real estate developers, emphasized that small behavioural actions can make a big impact in saving water.
Speaking at the panel discussion “Water for Tomorrow: Sustainable Management and Industrial Responsibility”, co-presented by the Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company, Mr. Kumar discussed strategies for water conservation, reuse, and sustainable management.
He shared insights on how the real estate sector has quietly evolved in adopting green building practices. “The biggest benefit,” he noted, “comes from recycling grey water, which contributes up to 70% in commercial and 50% in residential projects. Recycling drastically reduces community water demand.”
Highlighting Navin’s initiatives, he added that the company’s projects feature digital water meters and moisture-sensing drip irrigation systems such as those in Navin’s Hanging Gardens, minimizing water waste through intelligent design.
Mr. Kumar urged policymakers to offer stronger incentives for green residential buildings and to raise awareness of sustainable development’s importance.
The panel also included Dr. G. Ravikumar (Anna University), P. Kannan (CPCL), and Mr. Gaurav Kumar, IAS (Chennai Metro Water), moderated by Ms. K. Lakshmi, Deputy Editor, The Hindu.
