Global energy major looks to book profits as AGEL investment value triples.

TotalEnergies Plans to Sell Up to 6% Stake in Adani Green Energy for ~$1.14 Billion.

TotalEnergies is preparing to divest up to 6% of its stake in Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), aiming to realise profits from its highly appreciated 2021 investment. The French energy giant currently holds nearly 19% in AGEL through two subsidiaries—15.58% via TotalEnergies Renewables Indian Ocean Ltd and 3.41% through TotalEnergies Solar Wind Indian Ocean Ltd. Industry sources say TotalEnergies acquired its stake for around $2.5 billion, which has now grown to a valuation of nearly $8 billion. The proposed 6% sale, valued at approximately ₹10,200 crore (about $1.14 billion), may be offered directly to AGEL, which is expected to evaluate the proposal. With Adani Green’s market capitalisation at ₹1.69 lakh crore, the move signals strategic profit-taking while maintaining a significant share in India’s leading renewable energy company. Both TotalEnergies and Adani Green have yet to officially comment on the potential deal.
