Experts Push for Green, Climate-Inclusive Growth in Viksit UP-2047 Blueprint

At a high-level brainstorming session in Lucknow, officials and experts from key Uttar Pradesh departments emphasised that green development must be central to the Viksit UP-2047 Action Plan. The workshop, part of an ongoing series of stakeholder consultations, focused on strategies for balanced, sustainable, and climate-resilient growth across the state. Representatives from the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, UPNEDA, academic institutions, and technical bodies highlighted the need to integrate renewable energy adoption, carbon-emission reduction, circular economy practices, and ecosystem restoration into long-term planning. Environment Secretary B. Chandrakala stressed that future infrastructure must be climate-inclusive, resource-efficient, and aligned with biodiversity conservation goals. Experts also underscored the importance of mobilising climate finance through green bonds, blended financing tools, and international climate funds to support the state’s green transition. The discussions aim to frame robust reforms and a strong institutional framework for UP’s climate-inclusive future.
