IREDA Crosses ₹1.63 Lakh Crore in Loan Disbursements, Eyes Global Green Finance Role

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, has achieved a major milestone by disbursing over ₹1.63 lakh crore in cumulative loans. IREDA supports a wide spectrum of clean energy sectors including solar, wind, hydro, biomass, e-mobility, and green hydrogen. Chairman & MD Pradip Kumar Das emphasised the company’s strategic partnerships with multilateral agencies, issuance of green bonds, and promotion of refinancing models to ensure scalable capital flows into green infrastructure. IREDA is also championing a just and equitable energy transition by investing in institutional frameworks, risk mitigation, and capacity building. Looking ahead, the agency aims to evolve from a financier to a strategic enabler, expanding its global footprint in renewable energy finance. With improved credit appraisal and recovery systems, IREDA has significantly reduced NPAs, positioning itself as a catalyst in India’s clean energy transformation and global climate leadership.
