PLI payouts to begin only after one-year post-commissioning period, Parliament told.

Solar Equipment Makers Yet to Receive Funds Under ₹24,000 Crore PLI Scheme

Solar equipment manufacturers have not received any disbursements under the ₹24,000 crore Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for high-efficiency solar PV modules till the end of February, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. The scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to strengthen domestic manufacturing. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said letters of award have been issued for 48,337 MW of fully or partially integrated solar PV manufacturing capacity. However, no funds have been released as the scheme mandates PLI payments only after projects complete one year of commissioning. So far, about 30 GW of module capacity, 10.5 GW of cell capacity and 2 GW of ingot-wafer capacity have been set up, including 4 GW of integrated capacity commissioned in October 2025. The minister noted slower progress in upstream segments due to technological challenges, limited domestic experience and dependence on global supply chains.
