“Powering Progress: L&T Leads India’s Largest Solar-Storage State Project”
L&T Bags ₹1,000–2,500 Cr Order for 116 MW Solar + 241 MWh BESS Project in Bihar.
Larsen & Toubro’s Renewables division has secured a significant EPC order to construct a 116 MWac solar PV plant integrated with a 241 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Kajra, Lakhisarai district, Bihar. The project elevates the total co-located storage capacity at the site to 495 MWh, making it the largest such renewable-plus-storage project awarded by a state utility in India. The BESS, equipped with liquid cooling technology, will offer four-hour storage capability, enabling time-shifting of solar energy, capturing surplus power during off-peak hours and supplying it during peak demand. This initiative aligns with the Indian government's push for integrated renewable storage systems and supports Bihar’s Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan. Additionally, the project is expected to promote local employment and bolster the region’s energy resilience. L&T has classified this deal as "significant," with an estimated value ranging between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore.
