Lucknow Offers 10% Tax Exemption for Homes with Rooftop Solar Panels

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has approved a 10% exemption on residential house tax and water tax for households installing rooftop solar systems. The initiative, passed during the LMC executive committee meeting chaired by Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, aims to promote renewable energy and support the PM Surya Awas Yojana. Officials stated that the move will encourage citizens to shift towards clean energy and reduce dependency on conventional power sources. The committee also addressed several civic matters, directing zonal officers to identify and remove illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya settlers within a month. Additionally, proposals for renaming public spaces were approved, including renaming the road from Ring Road to Sahara Estate in Jankipuram Ward II as Music Maestro Kamla Srivastava Marg. The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, executive vice-president Charanjeet Gandhi, and other senior officials.
