Odisha to Overhaul Land Governance with New Comprehensive Land Management Act.

The Odisha government is preparing to introduce a new Odisha Land Management Act aimed at simplifying and modernising all land-related processes for citizens. Announced by Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari during a review meeting in Puri, the Act will replace multiple outdated revenue laws that often cause delays and bureaucratic hurdles. The government also plans to amend the Odisha Survey and Settlement Act, granting tehsildars greater authority to handle land records, mutations, and related decisions at the local level. Addressing Puri’s unique land challenges—where various departments like the Urban Development Authority, RERA, and the Endowment Department manage different land parcels—Pujari stressed the need for better coordination and legal clarity. The Puri Collector has been directed to submit a detailed report on land issues by December-end. Based on this report, the government will introduce amendments aimed at resolving long-pending land disputes permanently.
