Gurugram Begins Crackdown on Illegal Buildings Near Sultanpur National Park.

Authorities in Gurugram have launched enforcement action against illegal constructions within the eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) of Sultanpur National Park, issuing the first round of notices to alleged violators. Joint teams from the forest and wildlife departments, the Department of Town and Country Planning, the Haryana State Pollution Control Board and other agencies inspected residential, commercial and farmhouse properties to verify land-use permissions and construction status. Officials said demolition will begin with under-construction buildings, while owners have been given two to three days to submit mandatory documents, including Change of Land Use (CLU) approvals. The five-kilometre ESZ around the park covers 22 villages and imposes strict restrictions on construction to protect the ecologically sensitive Ramsar wetland and bird habitat. The enforcement drive follows directions from a wildlife committee that criticised delays in action against illegal development. Authorities will finalise the next phase, including demolitions, after a meeting with the deputy commissioner.
